If we find that you have a permanent hearing loss at your hearing test, we will likely recommend a hearing aid evaluation. A hearing aid evaluation will help us evaluate your unique hearing needs and help you choose the right hearing aid for you.
The results from your hearing test will provide us an outline of what sounds you may be missing or hearing. In addition, we ask you questions about your daily life and your perception of hearing. These answers will provide the basis for a more comprehensive hearing evaluation.
In most cases, we will program demonstration hearing aids and you will listen with those throughout the hearing aid evaluation. It is important to remember that your voice may sound odd and louder than what you prefer, and soft environmental sounds may be overwhelming in the beginning, however, your brain will acclimate in time. At the hearing aid evaluation, we will help you choose the best hearing aid style, features, and level of sophistication based on your degree of hearing loss, your lifestyle, and your financial circumstances. However, the final decision regarding which hearing aid to purchase is your choice.
NOTE: We recommend bringing a familiar voice (spouse, family member, friend, etc.) to this appointment so we can make sure the hearing aids are programmed to hear the most important voices in your life.
